12 Indonesian Female Musicians Appear On The Billboard New York Times Square, United States
JAKARTA - Spotify Indonesia through the EQUAL campaign noted that it has presented and introduced at least 12 Indonesian female musicians to the world stage, which was featured on the US New York Times Square billboard in the past year.
This month marks exactly one year since Spotify first launched its EQUAL campaign in Indonesia as a form of support for gender equality in the music industry.
Since its launch, Spotify has enrolled more than 400 female musicians from more than 50 countries in the program. Not only that, the EQUAL playlist has also garnered more than 58 million streams from listeners in 184 different markets, including Indonesia.
Not only that, Spotify is also happy to see more female artists getting recognition for their work. Olivia Rodrigo, one of Spotify's EQUAL artists, recently won three awards from the 2022 Grammy Awards.
In Indonesia, there is NIKI who received international recognition for her performance at Coachella on April 15, adding to the list of achievements from EQUAL Spotify artists.
His new song, "Every Summertime" was released as the main single from the soundtrack of "Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings", and was on the list of the top 10 songs on the Spotify chart in Indonesia for 8 consecutive weeks.
In Wrapped 2021 last year, he was among the 3 most listened to Indonesian artists globally, after Rich Brian and Pamungkas.
There is also Nadin Amizah, who ranked significantly in the list of the most listened to artists on Spotify Indonesia last year. The song, "Bertaut", has been played more than 100 million times on Spotify, including in the 3 most listened songs in Indonesia.
Then, singer from Bali, Mahalini Raharja, was chosen as EQUAL Artist of the Month for January 2022—shortly after she took home the New Artist of The Year award at the Indonesian Music Awards (IMA) in December 2021.
There is also Tiara Andini who has won several prestigious awards such as The Best Pop Album AMI Award 2021 and the Mnet Asian Music Award for Best New Asian Artist Indonesia from the Mnet Asian Music Award (MAMA) 2020.
In addition, there is Lyodra, an 18-year-old singer who is the only Indonesian artist to be nominated for the 2021 MTV Europe Music Award in the Best Southeast Asia Act category. Lyodra also won the award for Best New Asian Artist at the Mnet Asian Music Award (MAMA) last December.
