JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that former Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti was involved in bribery related to the administration of an apartment building permit (IMB). This allegation emerged after Haryadi was caught in a sting operation (OTT) on Thursday, June 2 yesterday.
"That's right (allegedly related to bribery in licensing regarding the apartment IMB, ed)," said Plt. KPK Spokesperson for KPK's Enforcement Sector Ali Fikri when confirmed by reporters on Friday, June 3.
As for this silent operation, the KPK secured Haryadi along with eight other people in the Yogyakarta and Jakarta areas. They are still undergoing intensive examination by investigators at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.
As previously reported, the KPK carried out an OTT and arrested Hariyadi Suyuti, who just finished his term of office on May 22.
Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, said that during the silent operation, evidence was found in the form of documents and money in United States dollar denominations, the amount of which is still being counted.
Furthermore, the KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the legal status of the parties caught in the OTT. They will later announce the chronology and who the suspects are through a press conference.
