The Idea Of A Night Race In Jakarta In 2023 Is Welcomed By Formula E
JAKARTA - The Chief Competition Officer of Formula E (E-Prix) welcomes the idea of holding a race at night in Jakarta next season. It's just that there is no final decision about it.
The plan to have a night race was first stated by the chairman of the Formula E organizing committee, Ahmad Sahroni. According to him, the idea will be approved by all riders.
"We haven't decided anything for the night race, but we are very enthusiastic if the race is held at night next year," said Alberto in Jakarta on Thursday, June 2.
In addition, Mercedes-EQ driver Nyck de Vries is also enthusiastic about this plan. He hopes that next season the idea can be implemented.
"I heard there were plans for a night race and that was very good," said de Vries.
The idea of racing at night was expressed based on several considerations. One of them is the view of the city of Jakarta at night which is much more amazing.
For that, Sahroni said, he and his team wanted the plan to be realized so that other people who enjoyed racing from the screen could enjoy the beauty of Jakarta at night.
"There is something interesting, why I suggested next year's night race. Because we took photos at night and the view [of Jakarta] is very good. As a Jakarta person, I see it is fantastic. That's why I want a night race next year.
Jakarta will hold Formula E for the first time on Saturday, June 4th. In total there are 22 riders who are ready to compete quickly on the 2.4 km long track with 18 corners.
This is the ninth series of 16 race series in the Formula E calendar. A total of 22 tickets prepared have been sold out, except for the Ancol Festi category tickets.
