Ministry Of Health Asks Hajj Pilgrims To Be Disciplined During Hajj

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health asked the pilgrims to remain disciplined in the COVID-19 health protocol (prokes) while performing their worship in the Holy Land, Medina and Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

"The implementation of this year's hajj will be faced with two things, the COVID-19 pandemic has not been completed and the temperature is extreme hot," said Head of the Hajj Health Center, Ministry of Health, Dr Budi Sylvana at a press conference quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 2.

Prospective Indonesian pilgrims will later interact with people from more than 100 countries. Therefore, process discipline must still be implemented.

"They will be very susceptible to contracting the disease if they don't carry out health procedures. Moreover, we know that not all countries have good immunization status," he said.

According to him, Indonesia is a good country. However, you must remain vigilant while performing the pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

Budi Sylvana also said that around 95 percent of the total 100,051 hajj pilgrims had received complete vaccinations or two doses of COVID-19 vaccination and 95.7 percent of the total hajj pilgrims had also received meningitis vaccinations.

"We are optimistic God willing, hopefully by the day of departure all pilgrims have completed their vaccination status," he said.

He reminded, if until the D day there are prospective pilgrims who have not met the vaccine requirements, they may not be able to depart.

"This is mandatory on the part of Saudi Arabia," said Budi Sylvana.

Previously, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas explained that the government had discussed preparations for the 2022 Hajj pilgrimage in a Limited Meeting (Ratas) with the President at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Tuesday (17/5).

"We have prepared a scheme from A to Z, including the required health protocol scheme, such as at least a complete vaccine, two vaccines, and it must be fulfilled by pilgrims," he said.

Yaqut explained that his party continues to strive so that all pilgrims who go to the Holy Land have completed at least two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
