Equalize With Jakarta Fair, Anies Ensures Formula E Continues Next Year
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan ensured that the Formula E racing event will not stop this year. Anies emphasized that Formula E would continue in the following year.
Anies likened this electric car race to the Jakarta Fair or Pekan Raya Jakarta which is also held every year during the celebration of Jakarta's anniversary. Likewise with the Transjakarta transportation mode which is still operating today.
He conveyed this in a meet and greet event with Formula E drivers as well as a Formula E racing car attraction in the National Monument (Monas) area.
"Many things started in Jakarta when the governor was in charge of one governorship and then continued. Transjakarta began in the Pak Sutiyoso era, and then the next governor continued. Then, the Jakarta Fair in this place (Monas) was started by Bang Ali Sadikin and continued, " said Anies, Thursday, June 2.
Therefore, Anies said that Formula E will continue after his term of office expires because this is not a one-term program for the Governor of DKI Jakarta.
"So this is a program of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, not private. This is for Indonesia and Jakarta," said Anies.
Anies stated that the electric car racing event in the Ancol area could later serve as a message to the world that Jakarta can become an environmentally friendly city by intensifying the use of electric vehicles.
"Let's use formula e together to bring Indonesia's good name in the world arena. This can send a message to all that Indonesia and Jakarta are ready to enter the era of electric vehicles," he said.
On that occasion, Anies revealed that the use of electric vehicles has begun to be implemented in Transjakarta bus operations. Currently, the DKI Provincial Government has 100 Transjakarta electric buses to operate every day.
"Jakarta already has 100 electric buses. God willing, by the end of 2030, 100 percent of the buses will use electricity. This is a series of transformations for Jakarta to be more environmentally friendly," he said.
