Bawaslu Asks To Prioritize Election Oversight Prevention, How?

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) has asked its staff to prioritize prevention elements in supervising the 2024 election stages. One of them is through a sampling test of continuous voter data updating.

"The evaluation of updating the continuous voter list (DPB) is one part of the prevention carried out by Bawaslu," said RI Bawaslu member Lolly Suhenty in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali, Thursday, June 2, quoted from Antara.

He added that the evaluation of continuous updating aims to ensure the validity of the final voter list (DPT) data in the 2024 election.

The coordinator of the Prevention, Community Participation, and Public Relations Division of the Indonesian Bawaslu, emphasized that the main priority of Bawaslu now is to strengthen prevention.

"We must prioritize prevention as an initial effort to minimize the occurrence of problems related to the election later," he said at the Monitoring Evaluation Meeting for Continuous Voter Data Update Stages held by Bali's Bawaslu.

In addition, he said, it must strengthen community participation and ensure that the information that is disseminated in the community is valid and can be accounted for.

The chairman of the Bali Bawaslu, Ketut Ariyani, said the continuous monitoring process for updating the voter list had been running after the 2020 Simultaneous Pilkada.

Ariyani said his staff had carried out a sampling test to factually verify the sustainable voter data that had been produced by the regency/city KPU.

On that occasion, Ariyani was accompanied by four other commissioners, namely I Wayan Widyardana Putra, I Wayan Wirka, I Ketut Rudia, and I Ketut Sunadra, and the Head of the Bali Bawaslu Secretariat Ida Bagus Putu Adinatha.

In addition to Lolly and the Bali Bawaslu Commissioner, the Bali KPU member I Gusti Ngurah Agus Darmasanjaya was also present at the event along with the Chair and Coordinator of the Regency/City Bawaslu Supervision Division in Bali.
