Moeldoko: Workers Are Still The Government's Attention

JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said that the interests of workers remain a concern for the government in drafting the Job Creation Act.

"Labor remains the government's attention, but behind the workers there are still many people queuing to get jobs," said Moeldoko as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 20

According to Moeldoko, the government always thinks about the interests of workers. However, the government must also think about policies to make it easier for people to get jobs.

Moreover, the economic crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic has caused millions of people to be laid off (PHK) which ultimately increases the unemployment rate in Indonesia.

"The number of job seekers continues to increase, which can be seen from the number of applicants in the Pre-Work Card Program which reached 34.2 million people, three days ago Pre-employment registrants reached 33 million people. This means that many people need work, ”he said.

Therefore, said Moeldoko, the government is always looking for a new balance point to accommodate all the needs of the community.

"We must not be stagnant in a situation, we must always change to face the situation because challenges also change. "The new point of balance is what we are really looking for," he said.

Moeldoko explained that the government continues to strive to transform the economy and resolve past economic obstacles. The government is also trying to make Indonesia an independent country and remain open to various inputs for the better.

"When there is a policy towards a better path, you know why it is a paradox for this nation. Then have to be independent. Open to improvement. We have to be an open nation, we can't be too sure that we are enough like this, ”said Moeldoko.
