2.1 Tons Of Waste From The Action Around The State Palace

JAKARTA - As many as 200 cleaning workers cleaned the area around the State Palace, Central Jakarta, after today's demonstration against the Job Creation Law.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Environment Agency, Andono Warih, said that the total waste transported was 2.1 tons. This waste is collected from the cleaning process by Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling Workers (PPSU) since 18.00 WIB.

"As soon as the masses began to disperse, the officers immediately moved quickly to pick up the trash left over from the demonstration on the road, on the sidewalk and on the JPO. We transported a total of 2.1 tons of garbage," Andono told reporters, Tuesday, October 20.

Andono said that road cleaning and public facilities were carried out in the Silang Monas area, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Tugu Tani, Jalan Budi Kemerdekaan, and Jalan Abdul Muis.

A total of 24 units of cleaning fleets were also deployed to transport garbage consisting of three units of tiper garbage trucks, nine units of inorganic garbage trucks, six units of automatic road sweepers (road sweepers), and six units of pickup.

He continued, although the conditions of heavy rain were not an obstacle for officers from carrying out their duties to keep Jakarta clean again. Andono said, currently the handling of waste after the speech act has been completed.

"We immediately took care of it as soon as possible so that the garbage would not cause puddles because the water channels and ropes were clogged," he said.

As is known, today's action started at 13.00 WIB. A number of elements of society consisting of BEM SI and a combination of other students, as well as a number of labor organizations held a demonstration.

Some of the masses were already at the Horse Statue. Some of them are on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan. The mass of BEM SI was around 400 people, the Joint Workers' Movement was about 1,750 people, and the Indonesian Buru Union Movement was around 30 people.

Participants in the action demanded President Joko Widodo to issue a government regulation in lieu of a law (perppu) to cancel the Omnibus Law.

Unfortunately, President Joko Widodo is currently not at the State Palace in Jakarta. Jokowi is currently at the Bogor Palace.

Jokowi this morning was scheduled to hold a limited meeting on the development of preparations for the 2021 U-20 World Cup online. In addition, he is also scheduled to have a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide.

The masses finally decided to return to demonstrations in the future. When a number of protesters dispersed at around 5:00 p.m., an unidentified mass of youths appeared who approached the location of the action.

The youth crowd threw stones and plastic bottles. In fact, they also threw firecrackers at the police on guard. Until finally, the TNI apparatus persuasively appealed to them to return home.
