Villa Burglar Who Stole Caucasian Valuables In Bali Arrested
BADUNG - The Badung Police have arrested a thief who broke into a villa and boarding house with the initials GS, targeting the belongings of foreign nationals (WNA).
"As a result of the police investigation, GS, a man born in Singaraja, carried out his action by prying the doorknob of the room and barging in," said Badung Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Leo Dedy Defretes as reported by Antara, Tuesday, May 31.
In his target room, he also robbed the victim's valuables with a total value of hundreds of millions of rupiah.
From the place where GS was arrested, the police found two cameras, four camera lenses of various brands, three microphones, two camera filters, three batteries, a camera bag, a gold ring, and a pair of gold earrings.
Some of the victims of GS, including a foreigner from Spain who lives in Canggu. However, the location where the victim experienced the theft was in a villa, Jalan Bypass Tanah Lot, Mengwi, Badung.
The Badung Police Chief said that the victim reported the theft on May 28, 2022. The day after that, the perpetrator was arrested.
Not only foreigners, GS also broke into the boarding house of a Balinese resident in Mengwi.
The results of the police investigation GS entered the victim's boarding room by prying the doorknob to break in, then taking the victim's valuables.
The Badung Police Chief said the perpetrator was a recidivist. So far, the police are still investigating to find out whether the perpetrator was operating alone or if someone else was helping him.
The Badung Police Chief appealed to people who felt they had lost their cameras in the villas in the North Kuta and Mengwi areas to come to the police station to check and confirm the ownership of the items confiscated from GS.
At least during April-May 2022, the police under the auspices of the Badung Police handled five theft cases. In addition to GS, who was involved in two theft cases, there were also perpetrators with the initials KS, M, and OTA.
Items stolen from the victim's house/boarding house range from gadgets/smartphones to cars.
