Minister Of Industry Agus Reveals Eco Industrialization Parks Encourage Inclusive Industrialization
JAKARTA - Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the development of Eco Industrial Parks (EIP) will encourage inclusive and sustainable industrialization.
The implementation of EIP is considered necessary starting from the preparation stage of the master plan (master plan) which contains plans for the development of energy and electricity infrastructure using new and renewable energy, efficient use of water resources, to the implementation of a standardized environmental management system.
"As for industrial estates being built, the implementation of EIP can be carried out in stages, starting from a change in management's point of view through workshops and capacity building, as well as making regulations," said Agus Gumiwang as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 31.
The Minister of Industry conveyed this at the International Eco Industrial Parks Conference with the theme "Accelerating Eco-Industrial Parks for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrialization" in the framework of the Road to G20 Event Indonesia 2022 organized by the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The activity was sponsored by Switzerland Economic Cooperation (SECO) and carried out in a hybrid manner in Hannover and Jakarta.
Inclusive and sustainable industrialization is one of the main issues discussed in the Trade, Investment, and Industry Working Group (TIIWG) of the G20 Presidency in 2022.
Industry 4.0 development is closely related to environmental, social, and standard governance aspects.
For this reason, the acceleration of the application of Industry 4.0 is absolutely necessary, including in industrial estates in order to increase productivity, competitiveness, energy and resource efficiency, as well as environmental protection.
The industrial estate development policy in Indonesia has entered its fourth generation, bringing aspects of a sustainable smart industry.
Adapting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UNIDO, World Bank, and The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) designed the development of Eco Industrial Parks (EIP) that unites innovation and complete infrastructure to encourage the fulfillment of social, economic, and environmental goals , which is implemented in the Global Eco Industrial Parks Program (GEIPP).
Industrial Estates can be said to start implementing EIP if they have improved environmental, economic, social performance, resource efficiency, and ease of connectivity and communication.
This can be achieved through minimization of environmental impact and digital transformation by creating a green design of infrastructure, planning and implementing the concept of clean production, pollution prevention, waste management, emission control, and energy efficiency.
The EIP International Conference aims to accelerate the development of EIP through the transformation of existing industrial areas in Indonesia. It is hoped that these industrial areas will become competitive EIPs and contribute to the global value chain.
In his remarks, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that the government's strategy in promoting economic recovery includes increasing investment in the region and the growth of the industrial sector, one of which is done through the creation of new economic centers in the region, the establishment of strategic economic zones, namely industrial and industrial zones. Special Economics (SEZ).
The development of Industrial Estates and SEZs and their supporting infrastructure is directed at sustainable and environmentally sound development.
This is in line with the collective agreement at the global level through the 17 pillars of the SDGs.
"We support the efforts made by the Ministry of Industry together with UNIDO in an effort to realize EIP in Indonesia. Seeing the enormous benefits of EIP, we encourage all Industrial Estates and SEZs in Indonesia to immediately implement EIP implementation," said Airlangga.
