The Rock's Daughter Follows In The Footsteps Of Becoming A Wrestler, Chooses A Stage Name That Reaps Criticism
JAKARTA - The daughter of former famous wrestler and American actor Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock, Simone Alexandra Johnson, has decided to follow in her father's footsteps.
Simone Johnson signed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in 2020. However, her career was stalled due to an injury that required surgery.
Now he's recovered and looks eager to get back into wrestling. This intention was strengthened by using the name Ava Raine as her stage name later.
However, the selection of the new name received criticism from some fans. The daughter of one of the greatest superstars of all time is thought to be using a name that has nothing to do with her father's stage name.
"Giving Simone Johnson, daughter of The Rock, a new name makes absolutely no sense. Withholding judgment until she debuts, but if WWE doesn't admit her father is The Rock, that's ridiculous," tweeted WWE journalist Louis Dangoor, quoted by Sportbible.
"WWE calling The Rock's daughter Ava Raine one of the dumbest things I've ever heard," another fan tweeted.
However, the criticism was immediately responded to by Simone Johnson. He found the reason why he did not embed the name 'Johnson' which is his surname in the stage name he chose.
"A name doesn't discredit the previous achievements of any family. I could have built my entire career around my dad & people will still attack me," he tweeted.
Simone was the first woman from the Johnson family to take up the path of a wrestler. He became the fourth generation of the family to pursue a career in this world.
Previously the Johnson family who had been wrestlers were "High Chief" Peter Maiva, Rocky Johnson, and The Rock.
