Aiming For Economic Growth Of Up To 5.9 Percent In The 2023 RAPBN, Sri Mulyani: The Government Is Trying To Be Realistic

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani represented the government in conveying views on the DPR faction's response to the discussion of the 2023 RAPBN.

On the occasion, the Minister of Finance explained that the government is aiming for an economic growth target of 5.3 percent to 5.9 percent next year.

"Considering the still high potential of the domestic economy and the government's anticipatory measures, as well as the relatively high potential risk of global uncertainty, it is quite realistic that the Indonesian economy in 2023 is estimated to grow in the range of 5.3 percent to 5.9 percent," he said. in the DPR Plenary Session at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday, May 31.

According to the Minister of Finance, there is a separate reason why the growth target is set within a fairly wide range between the basic and maximum assumptions.

"The high range of economic growth indicates that uncertainty next year is still quite strong," he said.

In addition, the state treasurer also explained about several important points that are considered to have a strong influence on the course of the economy next year.

"Acceleration of economic transformation is expected to have a significant and inclusive impact on our growth performance," he stressed.

Sri Mulyani then explained that the government continued to push for the implementation of the structural reform agenda, namely improving the quality of human resources, accelerating infrastructure development and improving regulations and bureaucracy.

"Efforts to strengthen downstreaming and revitalize the industry will boost the performance of the manufacturing sector, while the development of the digital economy will spur the performance of the modern service sector, particularly the trade and information communication sector," he said.

For information, in the 2022 State Budget Act, the government and the DPR agreed that economic growth this year would be in the range of 4.8 percent to 5.2 percent.

Meanwhile, according to the latest data released by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) it is known that Indonesia's economic growth at the end of the first quarter of 2022 was 5.01 percent.
