KPU Invites Jokowi To Launch Election Stages On June 14

JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia will launch the opening of the 2024 election stages as well as the start of the first stage of the election on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

The chairman of the KPU RI Hasyim Asyari said that his party would invite President Joko Widodo to attend and give a speech at the launch of the 2024 Simultaneous Election stages.

"There is a launch for the start of the election stage on June 14, 2022. We invite the president to give a speech in the series of launches. The president welcomes it, God willing, he will attend," said Hasyim at the KPU office, Monday, May 30.

Prior to the start of the 2024 election stage, the KPU will hold a coordination meeting involving all levels of the provincial KPU and Regency/Municipal KPU.

Then, in early August 2022, the registration of political parties has begun. Next, on December 14, 2022, the determination of the political parties participating in the 2024 General Election.

Stages continued with the campaign period. The KPU and President Jokowi have agreed that the campaign period is 90 days. Currently, the determination of the duration of the campaign period is just waiting for an official agreement with the DPR RI.

Until finally, voting day will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 or 20 months after the opening of the election stages.

Hasyim continued, Jokowi had expressed his support for the KPU to hold the 2024 General Election according to the schedule that had been prepared.

"In principle, the President fully supports the holding of the 2024 general election, which is scheduled to vote on February 14, 2024," he said.
