Fire Hits 5 Buildings In Padang, Firefighters: Fire Spreads From The Calligraphy Shop Then Spreads

PADANG - Fires hit five plots of buildings on Jalan Adinegoro, Koto Tangah District, Padang City, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) on Monday, May 30 afternoon.

Head of Operations, Facilities and Infrastructure of the Padang City Fire Department (Damkar) Sutan Hendra said, from eyewitness testimony, the source of the fire which was suspected to be the cause of the fire came from a calligraphy shop in the area.

"The witness saw the fire spread from the calligraphy shop to the building next door, so the fire continued to spread and grow," he said in Padang, Monday, May 30.

He said that the report of the fire entered the headquarters at around 17.41 WIB and the unit arrived at the location at around 17.47 WIB and handled it until 18:52 WIB.

"We extinguished the fire for about an hour and deployed six fire fighting vehicles," he said.

He said the fire broke out in a densely populated residential area, which damaged five plots of buildings.

He predicts that the victim's loss will be around Rp. 450 million with the burned area reaching 100 square meters out of a total building area of 300 square meters.

"There were 10 people affected and 12 people evacuated from their homes due to this incident. Thank God there were no fatalities and burns victims," he said.

He continued to appeal to the people of Padang City to always be alert and careful of things that could cause fires in their homes.

"Starting from electrical installations, traditional lighting equipment and others. We invite the public to always be vigilant to minimize the occurrence of fires," he said.
