The Demonstration Of The Job Creation Law Was Unable To Prevent The Strengthening Of The Rupiah To A Level Of Rp. 14,658 Per US Dollar

JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate on the spot market was observed to strengthen on Monday 20 October trading. The rupiah ended up strengthening 50 points or 0.34 percent to a level of Rp14,658 per United States dollar (US).

Until 15.00 WIB, currency movements in Asia were still varied. Where, the South Korean won is just below the rupiah after closing up 0.24 percent against the US dollar.

Furthermore, there was the Taiwan dollar which appreciated 0.07 percent and the Singapore dollar which rose 0.007 percent. Following this, the Hong Kong dollar is stable with a slight uptrend this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Thai baht remains the currency with the deepest weakness in Asia after dropping 0.19 percent. Followed by the Malaysian ringgit which weakened 0.14 percent against the US dollar.

Next, the Japanese yen and Indian rupee have depreciated by 0.11 percent and 0.05 percent, respectively. Followed by the Chinese yuan, which fell 0.01 percent. Meanwhile the Philippine peso slightly weakened 0.004 percent this afternoon.
