Women In Buleleng Smothered To The Point Of Fainting, Rp25 Million Lost
BULELENG - Gusti Ketut Karuna (43) was arrested by the police for robbing Rp25 million belonging to Made Putri, his own relative in Buleleng, Bali. The woman who was the victim was smothered by the perpetrator until she fainted.
The perpetrator went to the victim's house in Bondalem Village, Tejakula, Buleleng. The victim was smothered by the perpetrator until he fainted.
"There is a relative relationship between the victim and the perpetrator. In addition, the victim is often asked for help and loaned money by the perpetrator," said Tejakula Police Chief AKP Ida Bagus Astawa, Monday, May 30.
The robbery occurred on Thursday, May 26 when the victim was alone in the house. At that time, the perpetrator came and immediately smothered the victim in the bathroom until the victim fainted.
After regaining consciousness, the victim checked the money in the bag. It turned out that Rp. 25 million had disappeared.
"After being checked, it turned out that around Rp. 25 million was not in the bag. The victim rushed out of the house asking neighbors for help to take him to the Tejakula Police to get treatment from the authorities," Astawa added.
From the victim's report, the police moved to carry out an investigation until the perpetrator was arrested.
The perpetrator in the interim examination admitted to stealing money belonging to the victim as well as torturing him. The proceeds of the crime were planted behind the perpetrator's house.
"Once the evidence was removed, the perpetrator planted it behind his house with a white plastic bag," said Astawa.
The evidence that was secured was Rp. 25 million. There is money that is used to pay debts and daily shopping.
"The money has not been invested so that the wife and her family do not know. The modus operandi is to take money belonging to the victim, preceded by violence by the perpetrator covering the victim's mouth so that the victim is helpless and faints," said Astawa.
The perpetrator is charged with Article 365 paragraph (2) to 1 of the Criminal Code for theft with violence with a maximum prison sentence of 12 years.
