Realizing A Smart City, Sinarmas Land Presents Driverless Electric Cars

JAKARTA - Sinarmas Land presents an autonomous electric car (Navya Autonom) for the first time at QBig BSD Mall, Pagedangan, Tangerang Regency.

CEO of Digital Tech Ecosystem and Development, Irawan Harahap said the initial idea was to present the unmanned electric vehicle, because he wanted to change its place into a picture of the future smart city in Indonesia or Smart City. He hopes this will be an inspiration for other cities to follow the innovation.

"The discussion last year, 2021, when it was time for COVD-19, we had a lot of discussions. We will do this, as a network provider, we will also build an area to add value to Indonesia," Irawan said to VoI, Friday, May 27.

"So the initial idea of establishing BSD City is to serve as a test byrd for any technology, future technology, and can work, meaning, Indonesia is ready for future technology," he continued.

On this occasion, Irawan confirmed that this driverless electric vehicle was inaugurated on Friday, May 20. At that time his party had also tested the machine. The result is that there are no problems in the unmanned electric car.

Even his party also invited the Head of the Capital of the Archipelago (IKN). The goal is to see directly the regulations on these vehicles.

“2-3 weeks before launching, and it has been tested and committed. Thank God it was smooth, so there wasn't a significant problem (the electric car). We invite the Head of IKN, because it is related to regulations that do not yet exist, it is really pure without a crew, so without a driver, especially this is a new type," he said.

Irawan plans to present the unmanned electric vehicle in the BSD Green Office Park area, Tangerang.

"We will test it at the Green Office Park, because the terrain is different, the passengers are different," explained Irawan

Mechanism

Operational Hours, the electric car starts from Tuesday to Sunday at 10.00-17.00 WIB. However, there are some requirements to be able to ride the electric car. For example, passengers with a minimum height of 120 cm and must be accompanied by parents. In addition, the autonomous electric car is guaranteed not to incur any additional costs.

This car has an electric drive and a battery pack with a capacity of 33 kWh that can last for 9 hours. The electric vehicle has dimensions of 4.7 mx 2.1 m with a passenger capacity of 15 people, with 11 sitting and 4 standing formations.

This self-driving electric transportation has the ability to accelerate, navigate, and can detect environmental conditions around it, including avoiding obstacles and making stops autonomously.

He revealed that the general public can also try this autonomous electric vehicle by first registering and filling out a survey before and after enjoying the vehicle, through the OneSmile application.

"We have an application called OneSmile, so you have to download it, they fill in the data and then fill in the QR code. Keep going, so it's free, there's no charge," he said.

Security

The autonomous electric car is equipped with motion sensors that are used to detect objects in the vicinity. In addition, it can be set automatically or manually by using a manual controller.

Irawan explained how the sensor would detect what was in front of him. If there are pedestrians that pass, the vehicle will stop automatically.

"Yes, the car outside has sensors. So when someone passes in front of the electric car, the vehicle will stop automatically," he said.

In addition, passengers are asked to fasten their seat belts. This aims to avoid things that are not desirable.

"From our point of view, the regulation of protocol masks, inside must also have a seat belt because why, for example, a cat passes by. He can stop, second measure the temperature first. In the area itself, we mitigate if anything happens. In terms of vehicles, there are already SOPs, what if something goes wrong, emergency stock. The food is accompanied by a savety driver, an online manual if anything happens," he said.

Hope

On this occasion, Irawan hopes that the electric car will facilitate public access to move from one place to another, especially by utilizing technological advances.

"Our goal is to build comfort for residents by providing technological solutions," he concluded.

In this case, the VoI Team had the opportunity to try the driverless electric car. There are two security guards accompanying the trip. They control the vehicle system. This vehicle is equipped with 11 seats placed in front and rear. Then there are eight handrails to be used for standing passengers. Air conditioning in the electric car is also provided. So that passengers feel comfortable when using the vehicle imported from Japan. There is also a light fire extinguisher (APAR).

Before starting the electric vehicle, one of the officers asked passengers to use seat belts. This is to avoid unwanted events during the trip.

The speed for the electric car is only 25 Kilometers/hour. So it takes about 15-20 minutes to go around the QBig BSD mall. One of the officers explained that this electric vehicle will stop automatically, if there are pedestrians who pass in front of the electric car with a distance of one meter.

A total of four points will be passed by the electric vehicle. They are divided from where the drop off to those who want to ride the car without a driver.

"So there are four points, two up and down points. Then two more just to go down," said the electric vehicle officer.
