Italian MotoGP Results 2022: Francesco Bagnaia Takes Ducati To The Podium, Quartararo Trails In Second Place
JAKARTA - Francesco Bagnaia managed to be the fastest at the Mugello Circuit and brought Ducati to the podium. In race day Sunday, May 29 evening WIB, Quartararo was only able to follow Bagnaia in second position.
At the start of the race the VR46 duo, Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchi, had a perfect start. Marini even briefly took the lead before Bezzecchi took over on the second lap.
In the second round, Quartararo put on an outstanding performance. Although his M1 motorbike lost speed to the Ducatis, the Yamaha rider was able to poke into the second position after overtaking Marini on the fourth lap.
Bagnaia who carried the Ducati flag also started the race with a fairly hard effort. Starting from the sixth position, Bagnaia is definitely able to be in second position after passing the sixth round.
In the eighth round, the Suzuki rider duo had bad luck. Joan Mir and Alex Rins both crashed on the same lap which made Suzuki's nightmare in the 2022 Italian MotoGP continue.
Entering the eleventh round, the top position of the riders began to shift. With confidence Bagnaia was able to overtake Bezzecchi via a straight track on the same lap with a 0.4 second advantage.
In the same round, Bezzecchi again lost his position. After being shifted by Pecco to second position, Bezzecchi was again eliminated because his position was taken by Quartararo.
In the fourteenth round, the unfortunate happened to Enea Bastianini. The racer who became a champion candidate in the 2022 Italian MotoGP series actually crashed when he passed the fourth corner.
Entering the fifteenth lap, Bagnaia became more confident because he had the advantage over Quartararo. Although Quartararo had approached to take Bagnaia's position, the Ducati rider was able to respond with a 1.3 second advantage on lap 21.
Bagnaia was finally able to win the 2022 Italian MotoGP by beating Quartararo. While the third podium belongs to Aleix Espargaro.
