Reaching His First Pole Position, Fabio Di Giannantonio Will 'show His Teeth' In The Italian MotoGP
JAKARTA - Gresini Racing racer Fabio Di Giannantonio made a surprise by winning his first pole position in the Italian MotoGP. Now, the greatness of the host racer is awaited in the real race at the Mugello Circuit, Sunday 29 May.
Fabio Di Giannantonio, who is fully supported by sponsors from Indonesia such as Federal Oil, is clearly being monitored considering that his teammate, Enea Bastianini, will start the race from tenth position after previously experiencing an incident.
"I know I can do my best, because I really love this circuit and want to score good points here," said the racer who is familiarly called Diggia in the team's official statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, May 29.
The racer with the starting number 49 admitted that he needed maximum preparation to face his own home race. Even Diggia admits that since training everything has been as expected.
“We had Q1 and Q2 qualifying sessions which were out of bounds, I was too focused. I didn't even pay attention to see the drizzle of rain and in the end it paid off. I want to dedicate this result to all those who have supported me!” he added.
Meanwhile, the winner of three races this season, Enea Bastianini, managed to stabilize the Ducati Desmosedici GP21 to reach Q2 despite falling twice. At the start, you need a strategy, because the competitor for the 2022 MotoGP World Champion title is not far in front of him.
"We are a little bit far behind, but we are doing well and are happy with the speed of the bike. Two crashes didn't help at all, and the circuit conditions in qualifying were very challenging," said the number 23.
Bastianini also congratulated Diggia for winning the first pole positon in the MotoGP class. He hopes to be able to peek at the data carried out during the qualification.
The 2022 MotoGP World Champion title is still open for Bastianini to make Indonesia proud. In the provisional standings, Bastianini is in third place with 94 points, 8 points adrift of temporary title holder Fabio Quartararo. As for Diggia, at number 22, he has started to add 3 points to the standings.
