BPBD Calls Central Lombok Still Safe From Rob Flood
CENTRAL LOMBOK - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has ensured that coastal areas are still safe from tidal flooding.
"The tidal flood areas in Central Lombok are usually in Teluk Awang, Mertak Village and Selong Belanak Village. However, so far residents on the coast are still safe or no one has been affected by this La Nina change," said Central Lombok BPBD Head Ridwan Makruf in Praya, Saturday.
According to Ridwan, the current weather conditions are not considered an emergency because it has entered the dry season, but the current condition is still raining.
This La Nina weather change is indeed unpredictable, like the extreme weather that is starting to occur at this time.
"The extreme weather is actually over, but it's still there," he said.
With the La Nina change, he appealed to the people on the coast to be aware of high waves that could cause tidal flooding.
"We still appeal to residents to be vigilant when there are high waves and heavy rainfall," he said.
Previously, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted the potential for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in parts of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) for the next two days.
"Some areas of West Nusa Tenggara have the potential to rain from noon to late afternoon for the next two days," said Anggi Dwita, BMKG BMKG forecaster at the Zainuddin Abdul Madjid Meteorological Station, Lombok, in a written statement in Praya.
On Saturday, May 28, BMKG forecasts the potential for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in the areas of Mataram City, West Lombok Regency, Central Lombok, East Lombok, North Lombok, Mataram City, West Sumbawa, Sumbawa and Dompu.
The potential for rain in some areas of NTB on Friday, May 29 will occur in the areas of Mataram City, West Lombok Regency, North Lombok, Central Lombok, East Lombok, West Sumbawa, Sumbawa, Bima Regency, Bima City and Dompu.
Therefore, BMKG appeals to the public to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds which can cause floods, landslides and fallen trees.
"We urge NTB residents in general to stay alert during heavy rains," he said.
In addition, the BMKG also urges residents to be aware of high waves that reach 2 meters or more in the northern and southern Lombok straits, the alas strait, the southern part of the Sape strait and the southern Indian Ocean of NTB.
"Residents who use sea transportation services or who plan to move on the coast or in the waters around NTB remain vigilant against the impact of high waves that occur," he said.
