Ganjar Pranowo: Buya Syafii, The Nation's Role Model
JAKARTA - The Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, expressed his condolences for the passing of Buya Syafii Maarif, a prominent figure, scholar and one of the great scholars of Muhammadiyah.
Buya Syafii breathed his last at the PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital, Gamping, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) on Friday, May 27 at 10.15 WIB due to heart disease he suffered.
Ganjar had no idea that Buya Syafii would leave. Because, when Ganjar visited the PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital some time ago, Buya Syafii was still excited when he was spoken to.
"I am sorry, because he is a character who has become a lot of role models, always soothing. When I visited him yesterday, we were still joking and giving us spirit," said Ganjar.

Ganjar said that when he visited Buya Syafii, the two of them talked about light things. In fact, Buya Syafii also told of the beginning of heart disease until finally he was admitted to the hospital.
Ganjar said, Buya Syafii still remembers every sequence and details of the disease very well, so even the doctors at the hospital can still memorize it. However, one thing that touched Ganjar was when Buya Syafii wanted to take a photo with Ganjar.
"He said, from the moment I entered, how are you, sir, governor? Where's my mask? Where's your mask? I want to tell you first. And until the last time I was moved too, I was photographed with Pak Ganjar,"
That moment also made Ganjar feel that the former General Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah had been remembering Ganjar all along. Although only met a few times on various occasions.
Ganjar said, Buya Syafii is a great scholar who is friendly and has always been a role model for the Indonesian people. His advice and lectures always make those who hear him feel warm and cool.
