Water That Floods Semarang Port Area Is Pumped Into The Sea
SEMARANG - The overflowing sea water which has been inundating the Tanjung Emas Port area in Semarang City, Central Java Province for the past few days, has begun to be pumped into the sea.
The Head of Semarang Polrestabes Kombes Irwan Anwar said that the drainage of sea water in the port area was carried out in line with the patching of the broken sea wall in the Lamicitra industrial area.
"The pumping of water into the sea from the port area has been carried out," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 27.
He hopes that port activities and residents' activities can return to normal after the puddles are drained.
Meanwhile, Head of Regional 3 of PT Pelindo III Tanjung Emas Semarang, Ardhy Wahyu Basuki, said that there were two sections of the sea wall that had collapsed, each 20 meters long and eight meters long in the Lamicitra industrial area.
According to him, the two parts of the broken sea wall have been closed using bags filled with sand.
"It is closed, but it will still be raised about three meters," he said.
The collapse of the sea wall in the Lamicitra area has caused tidal flooding in the Tanjung Emas Port area since May 23, 2022.
