Ma'ruf Amin: Buya Syafii Maarif's Example Must Be Continued
JAKARTA - Vice President, Ma'ruf Amin, said that the example and thoughts of the Muslim scholar, Buya Syafii Maarif, must be continued by all parties.
"We must continue his example. As a teacher of the nation, his thoughts are very soothing, moderate, and can be accepted across generations," he said, in a video condolences for the death of Buya Syafii Maarif quoted by Antara, Friday, May 27.
He said Buya Syafii Maarif was the best scholar and a national teacher.
Ma'ruf Amin conveyed to the bereaved family, the extended family of Muhammadiyah members and the people of Indonesia, he expressed his deepest condolences for the passing of Buya Syafii Maarif to Rahmatullah.
"May Allah SWT accept his deeds of worship, forgive all his mistakes and give him the best place on his side," he said.
Previously, the Spokesperson for the Vice President, Masduki Baidlowi, said that Ma'ruf was sad and lost over the death of Buya Syafii Maarif, who died on Friday in Yogyakarta.
He said that Ma'ruf might not be able to visit the funeral home, because he had to attend the birthday celebration of Sheikh Nawawi Al Bantani in Tanara, Banten.
