Microsoft Will Allow Third-Party App Widgets In Windows 11 Later This Year

JAKARTA - A few days ago, Panos Panay, Chief Product Officer, Windows and Devices shared an update for Windows 11 for developers. In his blog, Panay says that Windows is a place where people come to create, learn, and connect.

"One of the most uplifting aspects of Windows is how the developer community has engaged with the platform, bringing value to more than a billion people across the planet," he said.

In the Build developer conference, Microsoft's operating system will now support third-party app widgets later this year.

The tech giant will also open access to Windows 11 widgets for developers as a companion to their win32 or PWA apps.

Widgets in Windows 11 give users a fresh, easy-to-see and useful look into app content.

Developers can create widgets for their Win32 applications and progressive web applications using Microsoft's Adaptive Cards platform.

“We are very excited about customer feedback about Widgets so far, people are enjoying quick access to the content that matters most to them in a seamless way without interrupting their flow,” said Panay.

Until now, Microsoft has not provided more details regarding how the third-party app widgets will work in Windows 11. To be sure, it will come later this year.
