Fake Birth Certificate Circulates Exploiting Former South Jakarta Dukcapil Sub-dept.: I Feel Defamed

JAKARTA - Former Head of the Population and Civil Registration Sub-Department, Abdul Haris, said he was surprised to receive information that a fake birth certificate signed by him was circulating.

The man, who is currently the chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in South Jakarta, said that the fake birth certificate information was obtained from his colleague.

"Initially, there were people who wanted to make a certificate of inheritance, because the requirement (the heirs) was to have a deed, then he gave the deed. But there are irregularities in the deed from writing all kinds of things," said Haris when confirmed, Thursday, May 26.

Knowing the incident, he immediately checked by adjusting the records in the database. Apparently the results did not come out.

"The biodata on the birth certificate was also checked by adjusting the records in the database, but the results did not come out," he said.

On the occasion, Haris, who had served as Head of the Dukcapil Sub-dept. for five years starting in 2017, admitted that he did not issue the birth certificate.

Based on this incident, Haris continued, he will coordinate with the South Jakarta Dukcapil Sub-dept. to investigate the issue of circulating fake birth certificates bearing his name.

"I feel defiled," he said.
