He said the Ciamis Police along with officers from the Ciamis Regency Transportation Service had conducted an investigation at the scene, including checking the driver, the condition of the bus vehicle eligibility, as well as facilities and infrastructure in the field.
He said, the results of the assessment from officers in the field showed that some parts of the brakes were categorized as good enough, or normal conditions, but another factor was that the driver did not master the braking technique which must be anticipated when driving on a derivative road.
"We also relate that to the way or steps the driver anticipates before going down by shifting gears, we also relate that," he said.
He added that the ranks of the Ciamis Police Traffic Unit had also examined a number of witnesses, namely local residents, homeowners, victims, and families of the victims.
The results of the case conducted by the Ciamis Police, he said, determined the bus driver with the initials IP (43) as a suspect who is currently being detained for further legal examination.
The suspect was charged with Article 310 paragraph (1), paragraph (2), paragraph (4) in conjunction with Article 312 and then Article 310 regarding acts due to negligence which resulted in accidents and material damage, minor injuries and even death, also left the scene and did not help the victim. accidents with a penalty of 1 year to 6 years in prison.
Previously, the tourism bus carrying a group from Tangerang, Banten was returning from a pilgrimage tour in Panjalu, Ciamis, then an accident occurred while at the derivative location.
The bus drove out of control then hit a number of vehicles and finally stopped after crashing into a house on Jalan Raya Payungsari, Panumbangan District, Ciamis, last Saturday at around 17.30 WIB.
The accident left four people dead, and 16 people injured and had to get medical treatment at the hospital.
