10 Pairs Of Bride And Groom Join A Mass Wedding In Tanjungpinang, Mayor: Taking Care Of Children, Schools And Assistance Is No Longer
TANJUNGPINANG - Ten pairs of brides and grooms participated in a mass wedding held by the Office of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Community Empowerment (DP3APM) Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands, at a hotel today.
The wedding was witnessed directly by the Mayor of Tanjungpinang Rahma, Deputy Mayor Endang Abdullah, Chairman of the PKK TP Muhammad Agung Wiradharma, and Chairman of the DPRD Yuniarni Pustoko Weni.
In his remarks, Rahma expressed gratitude and pride that a number of residents had officially participated in the marriage, thus obtaining legality.
"Of course, we can get a marriage certificate and it is recognized by the state. If we take care of the population, school children, and assistance, it will not be difficult anymore," he said at the location as reported by Antara, Tuesday, May 24.
Rahma said the mass marriage was also a form of concern for the Tanjungpinang City Government in helping residents who were experiencing difficulties both materially and morally.
"Of course we are proud, because this activity is equipped with kompang, wedding clothes to the aisle," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of DP3APM Tanjungpinang Rustam said the mass wedding was aimed at helping underprivileged citizens to be able to carry out marriages according to religious and state regulations.
This activity is also proof of the government's concern for the protection of women and children.
"So far, there are still many married couples who do not have a marriage certificate, even though the marital status contained in the marriage certificate is the legality and status for husband and wife and their children to get their rights and obligations," he said.
In addition, Rustam said that with the mass marriage and the possession of a marriage book by each couple, it is hoped that it will provide convenience in accessing various government assistance, ease in obtaining education, health and other facilities that require administrative requirements.
"Of these ten pairs, the oldest participant is 52 years old, and the youngest is 23 years old," said Rustam.
