Vice President Pushes For Acceleration Of One Million Houses Program

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has pushed for the acceleration of the One Million Houses Program to meet the needs of decent housing for the community, while encouraging other businesses related to housing construction.

"The government encourages housing development, supports not only reducing the backlog of housing shortages, but also has a multiplier effect, including community businesses, such as curtains, bricks, and sand," said the Vice President when receiving the ranks of the Indonesian Real Estate DPP (REI) as reported by Antara, Tuesday, May 24.

The Vice President said that although he had been affected by the pandemic, the property sector still showed a positive trend compared to other sectors. For this reason, he stressed that the construction of one million houses must be optimized.

“The government is pushing for the construction of one million houses. It is only during the pandemic that there will be a decline in 2020-2021, but it is still positive compared to other sectors, this must be encouraged," he stressed.

Chairman of the DPP REI Paulus Totok Lusida revealed that currently the housing sector is still showing positive results compared to other business sectors, although it is slightly sloping in the midst of the pandemic.

“The Million Houses Program is currently running and on the right track. The increase during the pandemic slowed down a bit, but one of the areas of business that was still positive during the pandemic was property, including in the housing sector for low-income people," he said.

Paulus said that currently DPP REI is pushing a program to make it easier for the community, especially workers, to get decent housing, especially apartments, by renting to own (rent to own).
