Baby Boy Allegedly Abandoned By His Parents Entrusted By Police At Bhayangkara Hospital Palembang

SUMSEL - A baby boy who was allegedly dumped by his biological parents in a resident's yard is now being deposited by members of the Ilir Timur II Palembang Police at the hospital (RS).

"We handed over the baby that was found by the residents and entrusted it to the Bhayangkara Mohamad Hasan Hospital for intensive care," said Head of Ilir Timur II Palembang Police Commissioner Fadilah Ermi in Palembang, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, May 24.

According to Fadilah, the baby boy was found by Rumanto (55), a resident of Jalan Setunggal, 8 Ilir Village, on Tuesday, May 24 this morning, around 00.00 WIB.

"This discovery from residents' reports began when the witness (Rukmanto) heard the sound of a baby crying in front of his terrace last night," he said.

According to witness testimony, he said, he was suspicious of the baby's voice that night and then rushed to check out the house.

From the inspection, the witness found that the baby was placed on a chair on the terrace of the house with the body wrapped in clothes and a "swaddle" cloth.

"From that discovery they immediately contacted our Babinkamtibmas officers and immediately processed it," he added.

According to the doctor's statement at the Bhayangkara Hospital in Palembang, the baby boy is estimated to be 3 days old and in good health.

Meanwhile, witness Syamsiah, the wife of Rumanto, admitted that when he was found the poor baby boy had been left on the terrace of his house along with diapers, milk bottles, and some money.

"How can the parents leave this baby. The baby is healthy and very handsome, many people want to take care of him, but because we don't want anything wrong, we reported it to Pak RW and then handed it over to the police," he said.
