Access Road To Semarang TPK Is Still Limited Due To Rob Flood
SURABAYA - General Manager of the Container Terminal (TPK) Semarang, I Nyoman Sudhiarta said access roads to the area were still limited, due to tidal flooding that hit the Tanjung Emas Port area in Semarang, Central Java.
"Nevertheless, currently TPK Semarang is ready to carry out operational activities in the field, because the stacking field in the TPK area is relatively dry, so that operational activities are possible," said Sudhiarta in a press release quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 24.
He said that currently the water level at that location is between 40 to 100 cm along the road from Pos 4 to the Semarang TPK gate, and previously had experienced a power outage.
However, the Semarang TPK Team and PLN have finished checking the electrical panel in the terminal area, and it was declared safe for electricity, so that the main loading and unloading equipment can be connected to the electrical panel.
Currently, he said, there are three ships being served by TPK Semarang, namely MV SITC Shekou, MV. Uni Premiere and MV. Power Diamond 8.
As reported, tidal flooding or tidal water that overflowed into the mainland with a height of more than 2 meters hit the coastal area of Semarang City, Central Java, especially the area around Tanjung Emas Port.
Apart from motorcycles and cars, thousands of sewing machines and production machines at a number of factories were also submerged by the tidal flood.
Dozens of containers or containers at the Tanjung Emas Port also seemed to be submerged by the tidal flood.
It is not yet known for sure the amount of losses from various parties due to the tidal flood that occurred simultaneously with high waves, and was exacerbated by the collapse of the sea wall in the port area.
