Formulate Potential Election Violations In Kulon Progo, Bawaslu Review Regulations On Verification Of Political Parties
DIY - The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Kulon Progo Regency conducted a legal review of the Bawaslu regulations regarding the stages of political parties and the registration of prospective pairs of candidates for the 2024 General Election.
This provision is contained in Bawaslu Regulation Number 3 of 2018 concerning Supervision of Registration, Verification, and Determination of Political Parties Participating in the General Election of DPRD and DPD Members.
"We have to prepare management and extra staff to be able to carry out verification supervision optimally," said the Coordinator of the Legal Division, Handling of Violations and Dispute Resolution (HPPS) of the Kulon Progo Bawaslu, Panggih Widodo in Kulon Progo, Tuesday 24 May.
He said party verification is an activity that consumes energy and personnel because to carry out supervision in each verification team from the Kulon Progo Regency KPU, it is possible that the Kulon Progo Regency Bawaslu lacks personnel.
For the verification, he continued, Kulon Progo Regency, the terrain that was passed was not easy because most of those who were verified were in rural areas that were difficult to reach by vehicle.
He said in the study of the Bawaslu regulations, his party found several problem inventory lists (DIM) which would then be submitted in stages to the DIY Bawaslu. Thus, based on the Antara report, Panggih hopes that the Kulon Progo Regency Bawaslu can get an explanation regarding the DIM.
"Hopefully, during the verification and determination of parties, there will be no more problems in the field and can run smoothly," he said.
Chairperson of the Kulon Progo Bawaslu Ria Harlinawati said after this legal study was carried out, the Kulon Progo Bawaslu could then follow up by formulating potential election violations that might occur during the registration and verification stages of election participants so that prevention could then be taken.
The potential for violations is more to the administration and the potential for disputes in the election process may also exist, as in 2019. "We all hope that the election participants in the 2024 legislative and presidential elections will have no problems, run smoothly, safely, honestly and fairly," he said.
