Before Leaving The Leadership, Febri Diansyah Reminded The KPK To Be Paid Public Money

JAKARTA - Through his Twitter account, the Head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Public Relations Bureau Febri Diansyah said that he would officially end his tenure at the anti-corruption agency on Sunday, October 18. In a thread, he said that he had conveyed a number of messages to the KPK leadership in a friendly meeting including warning that all employees at the institution were paid public money.

"The afternoon after Friday, the KPK leadership gathered a number of structural officials in the office. Gathering," Febri said as quoted from the @febridiansyah Twitter account, Saturday, October 17.

At that time, in front of the KPK leadership he explained a number of things related to the factors that affect the reputation and public trust in the KPK. He explained, from the results of analysis of news and social media, as well as an analysis of Organizational Reputation conducted by the Public Relations Bureau of the KPK, there are a number of things that have been voiced by the public about the KPK recently.

First, the public wants the KPK to handle high-profile corruption cases. Furthermore, the public longs for Hand Catch Operation (OTT) to catch criminals. Third, the public wants prevention which benefits the community to be included in the natural resources (SDA) sector. Finally, the public wants complete communication that is not distant or just a formality in the anti-corruption network.

In a meeting attended by four KPK leaders minus Nawawi Pomolango who was on duty outside the city, Febri reminded that being an employee at the KPK is not just looking for income and this institution is not only the property of those in office.

"The KPK is not only ours who serve here but belongs to the Indonesian people. That's why the KPK is also responsible to the public, especially since the law also regulates that," he said.

Furthermore, he also reminded that employees of this anti-profit institution are paid public money. The trick, he alluded to the KPK salary slip envelope that was still sent physically. "On the envelope it says, my income comes from the people," said the former KPK spokesman.

It is known, Febri Diansyah submitted his resignation letter on 18 September. He addressed the letter to the KPK Leaders, the KPK Secretary General, and the KPK Head of the Human Resources (HR) Bureau.

Through the letter, Febri revealed his reason for becoming a KPK employee because he realized that efforts to eradicate corruption could be taken more seriously. "For me, being a KPK is not only a matter of status or position but more than that. This is the main effort to contribute to eradicating corruption," he wrote in the letter.

He also said that the KPK is an example as well as hope for many people so that working well and transparently is a must.

"However, the political and legal conditions have changed for the KPK. After undergoing this new situation for about eleven months I decided on this path. I chose to submit my resignation from the institution that I really love, the KPK," said Febri.

At the end of the letter, Febri asked that his dismissal be processed in the next month or October 18 so that he could still finish his job.

Febri Diansyah joined the anti-corruption organization after becoming an anti-corruption activist at Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW). He became a replacement for the previous KPK Spokesperson, namely Johan Budi SP in 2016 and was replaced by two acting spokespersons in 2019 shortly after Firli Bahuri was appointed the Chairman of the KPK.
