PLN Deploys IDR 452 Billion Investment To Strengthen Electricity Supply In Karawang Industrial Estate, Aims To Attract New Investors
JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) disbursed an investment fund of IDR 452 billion to strengthen the electricity supply for an industrial area on the north side of Karawang, West Java, so that it can become an attraction for new investors.
General Manager of PLN Central Java Development Main Unit (UIP JBT) Djarot Hutabri said his company built two electricity infrastructures in the form of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) 150 kilovolt (kV) Sukatani and Gas Insulated Switchgear Extra High Voltage (GISTET) 500 kV Sukatani. "Karawang is one of the largest industrial areas in Indonesia. Electricity plays an important role in improving the investment climate," Djarot said in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Monday, May 23. PLN targets the two national strategic projects to be completed in November 2022. Currently, it has reached 77 percent. Sukatani's 500 kV GISTET will have a capacity of 1,000 mega voltamperes (MVA) with two 500 kV incomer towers along the 3.5 kilometer circuit (kms). As for the 150 kV GIS, it will have a capacity of 120 MVA with a 150 kV incomer tower of 3.44 kms.
Both of these substations use sulphurhexaflouride (SF6) gas isolation technology where the land used is more efficient than conventional substations. will continue to strive to immediately complete this project so that the benefits can also be immediately felt by the community," concluded Djarot.
