The Man Who Was Paraded By Residents In Cilandak Was Not A Thief, But A Cellphone Fraudster Who Claimed To Be A Policeman
JAKARTA - The Head of the Cilandak Police, Kompol Multazam, gave a statement regarding the arrest of a man in Cilandak, who is said to be the perpetrator of the mobile phone robbery, last Saturday, May 21.
Multazam said that the teenage boy with the initials S who was arrested by residents was the perpetrator of mobile phone fraud, not a robbery. In fact, to the victim, the perpetrator had admitted to being a member of the police.
Multazam detailed that when the perpetrator came to the victim with the initials AP, he asked for a cellphone. The reason is that they will conduct drug raids in cafes around Cilandak, South Jakarta.
"(So) the victim's cellphone was asked by the perpetrator and entrusted to the victim's friend to be miscall. And when he arrived at the cafe location, the perpetrator asked the victim to wait. Then the perpetrator went to the victim's friend to take the cellphone," said Multazam via text message, Monday, May 23.
"Because the victim's friend believed in the perpetrator who had previously been with the victim," he continued.
Realizing that he was duped, the victim immediately chased the perpetrator to Jalan Madrasah, South Gandaria.
"The perpetrator was walking at a fairly high speed (riding a motorbike). Then he fell (bounced) to the side of the road. The perpetrators were secured by residents and taken to Kramajati Hospital, East Jakarta for treatment," he concluded.
