IFixit Now Sells Parts To Help You Repair Your Steam Deck Self

JAKARTA - The existence of a Steam Deck self-repair service will indeed be easier. Moreover, Steam Deck has a repair-friendly design, so owners can easily repair it themselves.

However, it is even more complete when Steam Deck owners can easily find spare parts.

On Friday, May 20, iFixit published a list of the components offered for this Valve handheld device.

The listing reveals the company's plans to sell nearly all of the components on the Stam Deck, including a complete replacement motherboard with AMD's custom handheld Aerith chipset.

The Verge points out that the company will even sell parts that could be considered an upgrade, for example, if you have the 64GB or 256GB model, you can buy the bigger display variant which is 512GB.

For any panel replacement, you can also spend an additional 5 US dollars to get the "Fix Kit" which comes with all the tools you need to complete the screen swap.

However, there is one component that iFixit will not sell yet, which is a replacement battery. iFixit will offer it in the future.

“We don't have a solution for battery repair on day one, but we are committed to working with Valve to maintain these devices as they age,” iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens told The Verge. “Battery replacement will be essential to keeping the Steam Deck afloat. in the test of time."

Other spare parts that won't be available on day one include the replacement of the touchpad and Steam Deck advance button.

Most of the components are sold at quite affordable prices, starting from 20 US dollars to repair a broken joystick.

While the most expensive part is the new motherboard, which will cost you 350 US dollars. And for a complete handheld device from Valve starting at 400 US dollars.

Building your own Steam Deck with spare parts from iFixit can be said to be more economical. However, if most of the components are damaged, you should have them repaired by an expert.
