Son Heung-min And Mohamed Salah Become Premier League Top Scorers 2021/2022, Share The Golden Boot

JAKARTA – Son Heung-min made a flashy achievement in the Premier League season 2021/2022. He successfully became the top scorer of the English highest caste football competition.

The South Korean player scored a total of 23 goals with Tottenham Hotspur. This achievement made him share the golden boot with Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah who also scored the same number of goals.

Son also established himself as the first Asian player to carve that success. In addition, in the top five European leagues (France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and England) there is no other Asian player who can become the top scorer besides Son.

The 29-year-old was confirmed as the top scorer after scoring twice in the last game against Norwich City to surpass Salah.

However, Salah, who played against Wolverhampton Wanderers from the bench, also scored one goal to match Son's record.

"It's amazing to get this award. I can't believe it and it's emotional. I dreamed of it since I was little," said Son, quoted by BBC Sport.

Behind the two names is Cristiano Ronaldo with 18 goals. Trailing behind the Portugal star was Son's team-mate Harry Kane.

Meanwhile, Salah's teammate Sadio Mane, who has scored 16 goals this season, completes the top five list. In a row, the other five players in the top ten are Kevin De Bruyne, Diogo Jota, Jamie Vardy, Wilfried Zaha, and Raheem Sterling.
