14 Passengers Of KM Firli Who Drowned In Ternate Waters Found Safe
TERNATE - The joint SAR team managed to find 14 victims of the motor boat (KM) Virli that sank in the waters of Rua Ternate in safe condition.
"All the victims were found safe at around 12:10 WIT through the joint SAR team using RIB 02 Ternate and the fish boat belonging to the Rua community. The team managed to find KM Firli at a distance of 3.1 Nm, radian 243 degrees from LKP in a state of drowning," said Head of Basarnas Ternate Muhamad Arafah quoted from Antara, Sunday 22 May.
Furthermore, all crew members were evacuated onto a fishing boat belonging to the community. The victims were taken to Akerica Beach, Rua Village.
At 13:45 WIT, the joint SAR team arrived at Akerica Beach, Ternate City and handed over the victim to the family.
He stated that 14 drowning victims had been rescued, namely Joni M. Yasin (Capt), Muid, Kamil, Junaidi, Teguh, Isran, Dimin, Isnan, Idris, Aldi, Wahyudin, Fandi, Baba and Irda.
With the discovery of all the victims, the SAR operation was closed with the result that 14 victims were found safe. Furthermore, all the elements and potentials involved are returned to their respective unity with gratitude.
As previously reported, the Ternate Basarnas Search and Rescue Office, North Maluku (Malut) conducted a search for KM Firli, a fishing boat carrying 10 people, which reportedly sank in the waters of Rua Kota Ternate on Sunday, May 22, at around 10:10 WIT.
The head of the Ternate Basarnas, Muhammad Arafah quoting Antara, said Captain KM Firli, the ship sank about 8 miles from the coast and is currently being carried out rescuing the victims.
Arafah added, after receiving the report, at 10.22 WIT, the Ternate Basarnas Rescue Team moved to the scene using RIB 02 Ternate to carry out SAR operations.
Meanwhile, the Basarnas team previously managed to save a wooden ship on the Ternate-Bacan route, South Halmahera which was experiencing engine problems.
The longboat for the Bacan-Ternate route departed with nine passengers, then when it arrived in the waters of Makian Island, the outboard engine used fell into the sea and requested SAR assistance to evacuate the passengers.
Basarnas Ternate, who received the report, immediately dispatched a Rescue Team to move to the scene using RIB 02 Ternate.
The team carried out a search and evacuation of the ship's passengers, with a distance of 33.50 miles.
In addition, the Bacan South Halmahera SAR Unit Team managed to save a fisherman named Muhamad Ritno (38) who suffered damage to his raft house on the rompon in the waters of Kukupang island.
This fisherman was rescued after being hit by waves due to bad weather and asked Basarnas for help.
The victim was finally found and evacuated safely by the joint SAR.
