Vice President Calls Vaccines As Efforts To Prevent Disease

JAKARTA - The Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma'ruf Amin, said that vaccination or immunization is one of the efforts to prevent disease, including the COVID-19 pandemic.

"That is a form of effort to prevent a disease from occurring so immunization is part of treatment," said the vice president during a virtual chat with government spokesperson Reisa Broto Asmoro, reported by Antara , Jakarta, Friday, October 16.

The Vice President said that treatment is divided into two, namely curative and preventive. Curative there is treatment if the disease has occurred, while preventive before the disease occurs.

"In the matter of treatment, there is an order, there is a hadith. Treat you, Allah does not determine the disease unless there is a cure. Every disease has a cure, only it has been found or has not been found. Except for those without a cure for dementia," he said.

He emphasized that immunization includes prevention. According to him, in the general argument of religion, be prepared in five things before five things come.

Prepare to be young before you are old, healthy before you get sick, rich before poor, free before busy, live before you die. That, said the Vice President, is a preventive action.

"The healthy period must be used to prevent illness. So it is probably from immunization," he said.
