JAKARTA - The Indonesian men's basketball team made history after winning the gold medal at the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi, Sunday, May 22. Gold is in the hands of Indonesia after winning 85-81 in the last match over the Philippines.
This is the first Red and White gold medal from basketball since participating in 1977.
In addition, this victory also ended the Philippines' hegemony in the SEA Games basketball sport. Previously, the Philippines won the SEA Games gold medal 13 times in a row.
When viewed from the score of the match, this victory was not achieved easily. However, the hard work of Arki Dikania Wisnu and his friends paid off sweetly.
Meanwhile, the women's basketball team won a silver medal at the 2021 SEA Games after collecting four wins from a total of six participants in the round robin match system. In the last match, the Red and White team defeated Singapore in the last match with a score of 87-53.
Apart from basketball, Indonesia also got a gold medal from boxing. It was Maikhel Muskita who presented the 67th gold to the Red and White contingent.
Maikhel became the best in the men's 81kg number. In the final, he defeated boxer from Thailand, Anavat Thongkrathok.
