Government Opens CPO Export Faucet, Safe Cooking Oil Stock In Kudus Traditional Market
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has decided to lift the ban on the export of cooking oil and its derivative raw materials. People don't need to worry because the domestic stock is safe.
One proof is that cooking oil stocks in traditional markets and cooking oil distributors in Kudus Regency, Central Java, are available in safe quantities, both bulk and packaged cooking oil.
"Currently, there are abundant stocks of bulk cooking oil and there are no restrictions on purchasing it as before," said a wholesaler of bulk cooking oil at the Bitingan Muhari Market in Kudus, Saturday, May 21.
He admitted that he no longer prioritized customers who used to buy on the spot, because anyone who wanted to buy bulk cooking oil in any quantity was served.
This is because the supply is also not as limited as before. Currently the supply is smooth and any demand is met.
"Every 10 days, I ask for 15 drums of cooking oil or the equivalent of 3 tons to be delivered immediately. Unlike before, I only received three drums or 600 liters," he said, quoted from ANTARA.
The difference, he added, at that time, three drums of cooking oil could be used up in a day and still less, now to be able to use 3 tons it takes up to 10 days more," he said.
The selling price is still the same as before, which is Rp. 14,500 to Rp. 15,000 per kilogram because it is adjusted by the buyer. If they are resold, they will get a cheaper price, while the selling price is used alone in the market.
Miki, a shopkeeper who is also a distributor of bulk cooking oil on Jalan Hos Cokroaminoto Kudus, confirmed that currently there are no longer queues to buy bulk cooking oil, because the supply is smooth and easy to get.
"Previously there was a queue so a queue card had to be made, whereas now there is no more," he said.
Anik, a basic food trader, admitted that the supply of bulk cooking oil was smooth and whatever demand was available, there were no restrictions as before.
"It's just that now demand is low because one carton of cooking oil takes more than a week. Unlike before, it can run out in a day because the price is still cheap, now it's quiet because the price is Rp. 24,000 per liter," he said.
