West Halmahera Earthquake Magnitude 5.5, Felt Up To Manado

JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 occurred in West Halmahera, North Maluku. The tremors of the earthquake called BMKG were felt as far as Manado, North Sulawesi, and its surroundings.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was at coordinates 1.75 North Latitude-126.38 East Longitude or 141 km northwest of West Halmahera with a depth of 10 km.

The West Halmahera earthquake, North Maluku, occurred Thursday at 22.29 WIB.

According to the BMKG, the earthquake was felt on the MMI III scale in Manado, Tondano and Bitung, North Sulawesi.
