Deeper Acquaintance With Formula E, Still Has A Strong Voice And Can Go 280 Km/hour
JAKARTA - Formula E is also touted as the future of electric car racing. Since debuting on the grounds of Beijing's Olympic Park in 2014, Formula E has grown into a global pastime, attracting many of the best drivers and teams around.
Formula E is the world's first all-electric international single-seater racing championship. It is officially known as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Its mission is to promote sustainable mobility and move electric vehicles forward in the race towards a better and cleaner future.
In just three years, Formula E has gone from concept car to reality through prototype, innovative electric technology for the race track and onto Gen1, with the first race taking place six years ago on the series' global debut at the Olympic Park grounds in Beijing.
Formula E started the electric street racing revolution at the 2014 Beijing E-Prix on September 13, 2014. After 25 laps of racing, it all came down to the final corner of the final lap.
Lucas Di Grassi (Audi Sport ABT) made his name in the history books by becoming the winner of the first race in Formula E.
In 2015, Formula E welcomed seven new manufacturers into the lineup, while opening up new regulations that would allow teams to design their own motors, inverters, gearbox and rear suspension, with power also reaching 170 kW (230bhp).
Going a step further in 2018 which marked the beginning of a new era for the all-electric street racing series. The first significant change is the introduction of the new Gen2 car.
In dramatic Batmobile-esque styling, it has even more power with a new lightweight battery that now pumps out 250kW (225bhp) for a top speed of 280km/h (174mph).
The increase in battery capacity also puts an end to pitstops, with advances in technology now meaning one car can fit into the new format of 45 minutes plus one lap at racing speed.
Then lastly in 2020, after six seasons of racing on the streets of the world's most progressive cities, Formula E gained World Championship status, a move granted by the FIA, motorsport's governing body, in December 2019.
How Do Formula E Cars Work?
Every team in Formula E gets the same car. However, it's not the same as each team has its own livery and sponsor, but the basic engine underneath is the same.
Formula E cars are powered by two electric motors that are supplied by a battery in the middle. Don't think that this car is soundless, because the actual engine of a Formula E electric car creates 80 dB of noise at an almost unbelievable speed.

It has a powertrain consisting of an inverter, motor and transmission. A Formula E car's inverter takes the electricity generated by the battery and converts it from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC), which the motor uses to turn the wheels. But how fast is a Formula E car? Today's Formula E electric car racer can reach a top speed of 280 km/h. With 250 kW of power, they can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds.
Formula E Mobil Car Battery Life
In 2018 Formula E moved to a new type of car, bringing changes to tactics and racing. Of course, making the power also increase, from 200 kW in qualifying to 250 kW. In races, from 180 kW to 200 kW. So the speed of the vehicle does not need to be doubted.
Not only that, the car will also get a much larger battery by switching from the powertrain manufacturer to McLaren. The battery jumped from 32 kWh to 54 kWh.
This means that each driver will have to use two different cars due to the limited battery range. In the first four seasons Formula E drivers need to swap cars in the middle of a race. This is no longer the case.
Now, there will be an upgraded type of car in 2022. The design of this car will have more open wheels like an F1 car. Power will increase significantly to 350 kW in qualifying and 300 kW in race.
Flash charging technology will also be used for the battery, meaning pitstop charging can be up to 800 kW.
Score Points in Formula E
Formula E follows the same points system as any other racing series, it is regulated and run by motor racing's official body, the FIA. The winner of the race gets 25 points, the second gets 18 points and the third gets 15.
The top ten teams all receive points, with tenth place earning only one point. Over the years, the number of teams has changed. A total of 10 to 12 teams, each of which has two drivers. There are independent racing teams and families. In terms of major manufacturers, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, BMW and Nissan are all involved with the Formula E team.
