Students Joined Demonstrations And Secured, Police: Once Again Arrested Immediately Processed
JAKARTA - Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus said that students who were detained because they were involved in the rioting in a demonstration against the Kera Copyright Law had made a statement.
In the statement letter, said Yusri, they would not repeat their actions. Namely carrying out demonstrations that caused chaos which resulted in the damage to public facilities in the capital city of Jakarta.
"All the students we secure we make statements. The statement with the agreement will not repeat itself," said Yusri to reporters, Thursday, October 15.
According to Yusri, if they are caught returning to the demonstration and are secured, his party will ensnare the student under the applicable law.
"Once again, we found that the data will be processed according to the applicable law, because it is for all of their learning," said Yusri.
Yusri explained that Polda Metro Jaya secured 1,377 people related to the riots on October 13, 2020. However, most of the rioters who were arrested have already been sent home.
The police obliged the rioters to be picked up by their parents because most of the rioters were still underage students.
However, there were 47 people who could not be sent home by the police because they were declared reactive during the COVID-19 rapid test. The 47 youths were then taken to the COVID-19 asymptomatic isolation facility (OTG) to undergo a swab test.
"But out of 1377, 47 were reactive, this is what we have not returned home, but left it in Pademangan in an isolation house for the COVID-19 test," he concluded.
