Asking Residents To Keep Wearing Masks On Public Transport, Gibran Jokes: This Increases The Level Of Handsomeness By 20 Percent
SOLO - Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka asked residents to continue to wear masks when using public transportation.
"Public transportation is still mandatory, BST (Batik Solo Trans) is required to wear a mask, don't rush to take off your mask," he said in Solo, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 18.
The mayor asked residents not to be careless even though the transmission of COVID-19 had decreased and conditions had improved.
"Don't don't want to wear a mask, don't want a vaccine. The booster vaccination is still 50 percent, you know, this (coverage)," he said.
Gibran reminded that the use of masks is important to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 and other health problems.
"For handsome. This increases the level of handsomeness by 20 percent," he said jokingly.
The central government allowed the easing of the rules for the use of masks in the open because it assessed that the transmission of COVID-19 was under control.
The easing of the rules for the use of masks only applies to outdoor activities, does not apply to activities in closed rooms and means of transportation. The policy also does not apply to vulnerable groups, including the elderly and people with comorbidities.
The Surakarta City Government is still waiting for instructions from the Governor of Central Java to follow up on the policy of easing the use of masks.
"Yesterday, the governor asked. We are waiting for the governor's instructions. If it's okay, we'll run it, we'll put it in the SE (circular)," said Gibran.
According to data from the Surakarta City COVID-19 Task Force, on May 17, 2022, there was only one COVID-19 patient who was still undergoing quarantine in Solo.
