Demo Workers Reject The Job Creation Law Today, Police Are On Standby

JAKARTA - The joint apparatus in East Jakarta is monitoring five gathering points for workers who intend to continue the action against the Cipta Kerja Act in Central Jakarta.

"We have placed members for security in the event of a labor action at that location," said East Jakarta Police Chief AKBP Steven Tamuntuan, in Jakarta, as reported by Antara , Thursday, October 15.

This effort was the response of the joint apparatus from elements of the TNI, Polri, Satpol PP and Dishub to respond to the action plan of around 1,000 workers who are members of the Jakarta Labor Movement (GBJ).

The workers will gather at the Pulogadung Industrial Area, the Cakung KBN Industrial Area, the Marunda KBN Industrial Area, the Pasar Rebo Flyover and the Peluit Reservoir.

Steven has not confirmed whether the workers will move to Central Jakarta or just convey their aspirations in the East Jakarta area. "This afternoon there is no mass yet, our members are still on standby in the field," he said.

The GBJ Field Coordinator, Zaenal Abidin, in a letter notifying the demonstration to the police stated that the action was related to the rejection of the Omnibus Law.

"This action is a statement of our position to the government so that the Omnibus Law Law is canceled," he said.

GBJ workers asked for permission from the police to hold an action on October 15-22 2020 by deploying a maximum of 1,000 members.
