Police Are Excited About Being Noisy With Residents In Ciledug, The Head Of Pesanggrahan Police Denies That Their Members Beat Them
JAKARTA - The commotion on Jalan Ciledug Raya involved a member of the Pesanggrahan Police, South Jakarta. Officers are said to have beaten local residents. In fact, at the scene of the incident officers opened fire.
The Head of Pesanggrahan Police, Kompol Nazirwan, confirmed the incident. However, Nazirwan denied any beatings by his members against the group of youths.
He explained that at that time the officers came to the scene intending to break up the commotion of a group of youths suspected of provocation.
"Members tried to calm the residents. Then, I showed my identity that I was a police officer," said Nazirwan when met at the Pesanggarahan Police, Tuesday, May 17.
"(The goal) is to return and not to be provoked by shouts or provocateurs who say there are robbers," he continued.
Meanwhile, for the officers who brandished firearms at the time of the incident, Nazirwan revealed that his aim was to convince the residents that they were members of the police.
"Regarding the SOP in the field, there is already a team in the field that has gone down. So there are actions from our members who show their identities. It's just an effort to show identity, not to take further action," he concluded.
