Opening The Trial Period, Puan Maharani Asks Council Members To Highlight Cases Of Acute Hepatitis To Economic Problems

JAKARTA - The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia opened the Session V Year 2021-2022 at the 21st Plenary Meeting on Tuesday, May 17, after the members of the House of Representatives went into recess since April 15.

Through her speech read by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, highlighted a number of issues in society that the council should pay attention to, including cases of acute hepatitis in children.

"The problem with acute hepatitis is that until now the cause is unknown and attacks children aged 1-17 years," said Puan Maharani in her opening speech for the trial, Tuesday, May 17.

Puan also highlighted the problem of foot and mouth disease in livestock, the rules for easing activities and policies for the Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Java and Bali, the provisions for the implementation of Face-to-face Learning in schools based on the PPKM level, and the Government's steps in dealing with the increase in COVID-19 cases. 19 after the Lebaran homecoming period.

Puan also asked the council to pay close attention to the rioting incident at Expo Waena, Jayapura City, the achievements of the COVID-19 vaccination and booster program. As well as discussion of stages, programs and schedules, the implementation of the 2024 General Election (Election).

Puan also reminded members of the DPR to always work for the welfare of the people during the trial period which will start today until July 7, 2022.

On the other hand, Puan appreciated the Government, TNI, Polri, and related stakeholders because the Eid homecoming trip this year went well. According to him, the implementation of the Lebaran homecoming can be carried out conducively thanks to mutual cooperation and joint work.

"The joint work, mutual assistance, that we have done has had a positive impact, showing that COVID-19 cases continue to experience a downward trend, vaccinations continue to increase, and social and economic activities of the community are starting to recover gradually," he said.

During the fifth trial, continued Puan, the DPR scheduled the completion of the discussion of a number of bills at level I discussions, the discussion of Macroeconomic Policy and Fiscal Policy Principles (KEMPPKF) for the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2023.

Puan assessed the need for the Government and the DPR to anticipate fiscal policy and resilience in 2022 to respond to global economic developments that burden state finances. He also underlined the importance of preparing for the 2024 General Election stage which has begun this year.

"Fiscal Year 2023, is the State Budget which will be held in fiscal consolidation, where the deficit limit returns to a maximum of 3 percent of GDP. So far, the relaxation of the widening deficit has been used to deal with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic," said Puan.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture stated that the DPR would pay attention to KEM PPKF 2023 in order to realize the APBN for Fiscal Year 2023 which could improve the quality of life and welfare of the people.

"The state must be present in facilitating people's lives in getting a decent and prosperous life," said Puan.

Puan added, during this trial the DPR RI together with the Government and DPD RI will prioritize finalizing the discussion of the Bill which is currently under discussion at Level I Discussions.

"The formation of the law, which is being organized by the DPR RI and the Government, is currently focused on efforts to meet national legal needs and support the implementation of national development," said Puan.
