Joaquin Phoenix As Napoleon Bonaparte In Kitbag

JAKARTA - Joaquin Phoenix will play Napoleon Bonaparte in a film about the 19th century French emperor. This biopic titled Kitbag is the work of Ridley Scott.

Launching Antara , Thursday, October 15, Kitbag will focus on the origins of Napoleon and his unstable relationship with his wife Josephine. He led military campaigns during the French Revolutionary Wars and was emperor of France from 1804 to 1814, leading the country in a series of battles before being defeated at Waterloo.

Napoleon was first exiled to the island of Elba and then to the island to Saint Helena, where he died in 1821 at the age of 51.

The film is in the early stages of planning and will be produced by Disney's 20th Century Studio. This project will be directed and produced by Scott through the production company Scott Free with Kevin Walsh also acting as producer.

Scott has appointed screenwriter David Scarpa to write the script. Scarpa and Scott previously collaborated on the 2017 crime thriller film All the Money in the World .

Scott has also completed production of The Last Duel , starring Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Jodie Comer and Ben Affleck. She will also begin production of the film "Gucci" in Italy in March 2021, which will star Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani alongside Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Adam Driver and Jared Leto.

Meanwhile, Joaquin Phoenix won the best actor award and this year's Academy Award for Joker . He was also nominated for Walk the Line , The Master , and Gladiator .

Scott himself was also nominated for best director at the Academy Award for Gladiator as well as The Martian , Black Hawk Down , and Thelma & Louise .
