Surprised That Formula E Sponsors Haven't Been Revealed, PDIP: Logically, Sponsors Embedded For Promotion
JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Gembong Warsono, admitted that he was surprised by the secrecy of the Formula E sponsorship which has not been revealed until now. In fact, Formula E is held in less than three weeks.
BUMD PT Jakpro as the organizer has claimed that Formula E already has a sponsor who finances the race. However, Gembong questioned why the sponsor had not been announced. Given, the purpose of a party sponsoring an activity, they want their name displayed for promotional purposes.
"He said sponsors don't want to be announced. Where are sponsors who don't want to be announced? Logically, the sponsor's name, yes, is displayed, to promote himself," said Gembong when contacted, Tuesday, May 17.
Gembong was also pessimistic about the readiness of the electric car race to be held in Ancol. Likewise, the claim of the executive committee that Formula E can gain profits of up to Rp1.4 trillion.
"Calculating profits should not be carried away. I believe that profit does not mean that BUMD gets a real profit, but the multilevel effect is calculated," said Gembong.
Therefore, Gembong supports the plan of the Chairman of the DKI DPRD to summon Jakpro as a BUMD that organizes Formula E to provide an explanation regarding the certainty of the sponsor.
"The chairman of the council summoned Jakpro, I think it's appropriate so that we know what Jakpro's studies are like, where the profit is calculated, we must know. The money used by Jakpro comes from the APBD (in regional capital participation), you know," he said.
Previously, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria was efficient in talking about the certainty of sponsoring Formula E. According to him, the DKI Provincial Government does not interfere in the business affairs of the electric car races organized by its BUMD.
"For sponsors and others, please ask Jakpro as the organizer. We, the provincial government, do not interfere technically, let alone such details," said Riza.
