So The Cause Of Floods, Kramat Jati Main River Will Be Normalized

JAKARTA - The Kramat Jati Sub-District Office, East Jakarta, plans to normalize the Kali Induk as a whole to overcome the problem of flooding that often occurs in the area.

The Head of Kramat Jati Sub-district, Rudy Syahrul, said that his party had sent a letter to the East Jakarta Sub-dept. of Water Resources (SDA) to dredge and make drains for the main river flow.

"In this regard, there must be an overall normalization in the main river," said Rudy Syahrul as quoted by Antara, Monday, May 16.

Rudy added that the overall normalization process for the Main River must be carried out by the DKI Jakarta SDA Service, so that its implementation awaits a decision at the provincial level.

"If the normalization of authority is from the Natural Resources Office. We have not received any information (implementation of normalization), related to this, so that we must coordinate with the Sub-Department and the Natural Resources Service," said Rudy.

Previously, residential areas in RT 03 and RT 04/RW 02 Tengah Village, Kramat Jati, were flooded with a height ranging from 40 centimeters to one meter on Sunday (15/5).

The head of RT 04/RW 02 Tengah Village, Faizatul Islamiyah, said that the flood was caused by the inability of the Main River to accommodate the water discharge when heavy rains hit the area. He said that floods have often occurred so that it interferes with the activities of residents.

"Hopefully, related parties can help to conduct socialization to residents regarding how to deal with it. And in terms of infrastructure, it can be improved," said Faizatul.
